About the roleJoin the Finance Business Partnering (FBP) team that works with the “Risk” Line of Service to drive, influence and challenge the business to achieve sustainable, profitable growth. You’ll support the FD and Leadership of Risk in their ownership of the integrity and accuracy of their P&L and balance sheet, ensuring that the accounting policies and control framework defined by the Firm’s Financial Control CoE are implemented and monitored.
You will be seen as a subject matter expert within the Business Partnering team. The role requires strong financial accounting knowledge, commercial insight and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with the FC CoE, other FC Leads and the Business Partnering team to continuously develop, improve, implement and monitor financial controls, ensuring adherence to the firm’s accounting policies and procedures, and serving as a subject matter expert on these topics.
- Engage with the Business Partnering team and Engagement Leaders early in the engagement life-cycle to advise upfront on accounting policy and contract code set-up, preventing unanticipated revenue recognition issues.
- Identify and review large, high-risk engagements as they progress to ensure correct revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS, seeking advice from the FC CoE where appropriate.
- Take ownership of month and year-end processes to ensure accurate financial reporting across the P&L and balance sheet, including taking the lead on the external audit process for the Risk business.
- Professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA or an international equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and expertise in applying relevant accounting standards, particularly IFRS
15. - Strong interpersonal skills and an independent and unbiased approach, able to effectively challenge senior stakeholders on inappropriate accounting practices.
- Experience in designing and implementing financial controls and identifying areas for technology-driven process improvements.
- Experience in managing month and year-end processes, including facilitating and participating in an external audit process.
- Appreciation of the commercial / financial drivers and accounting practices of a professional services organisation.
