We are partnering with a client within the Education Sector in Birmingham to recruit a Finance Business Partner. The role is paying up to £57,000 per annum, offering generous annual leave and pension contribution.
An established organisation in the heart of Birmingham providing high quality teaching.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary financial contact, acting as the interface between senior stakeholders and the Finance Department.
- Provide strategic and operational financial advice to key stakeholders (finance and non‑finance) across the organisation.
- Contribute financial insight to support decision‑making and delivery of objectives.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including clear summary reports and commentary.
- Support the Executive in developing meaningful budgets, ensuring effective budget management, and recommending actions to mitigate financial risks.
- Lead the production of forecasts, annual budgets and five‑year financial plans to agreed timetables, proactively identifying and resolving issues in collaboration with budget holders.
- Monitor income and expenditure against budget, producing ad‑hoc financial reports, business cases, investment appraisals and financial analysis as required.
- Provide financial oversight of externally funded research activity, understanding associated risks and impacts on business planning.
- Ensure the finance function meets the requirements of internal stakeholders, auditors and external funders.
- Oversee project accounting where required, ensuring appropriate use of nominal ledger codes.
- Collaborate with the Systems Team to develop clear, relevant and user‑focused management reports, and promote their effective use by budget holders.
- Design and deliver finance training to support non‑finance staff in understanding and managing financial information.
- Fully qualified member of a recognised professional accountancy body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CGMA), with substantial post‑qualification experience in a management accounting or finance business partnering role.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
- Proven experience in a senior finance business partnering role, supporting multiple stakeholders and delivering high‑quality accounting, analysis and reporting solutions.
- Strong background in management accounting, business planning, budgeting, forecasting and project costing.
- Demonstrable ability to apply technical accounting expertise in a practical and accessible way, enabling stakeholders and colleagues to understand financial and operational issues.
- Experience of working effectively within complex organisations, balancing competing priorities and stakeholder demands.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Significant experience using financial systems such as Agresso, CODA, SUN or equivalent enterprise finance systems.
- Highly organised with strong planning and time‑management skills, capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships and communicate confidently, clearly and diplomatically.
