Assistant Accountant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Birmingham. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will support a range of accounting functions, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Month-End & Financial Support

• Assist in the timely and accurate month-end close process
• Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and investigations
• Assist in stock monitoring and maintenance of the asset register

Accounting Operations

• Process and code invoices and purchase orders
• Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis
• Maintain and update price lists and inventory records

Administrative Support

• Support the day-to-day operations of Accounting Services

• Internal: Daily interaction with the Financial Controller, Senior Financial Accountant, and wider Finance team
• Cross-functional: Regular contact with the Shared Services Centre, Lines of Business, and Divisional Functions

• Previous experience in a finance or accounting support role
• Strong Excel and systems skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Working towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP)
