Overview
Event Steward - Cheltenham Racecourse
We are seeking Birmingham based staff willing to work in Cheltenham for the upcoming events. The role represents Carlisle Support Services as the chosen supplier of event stewards and security for Cheltenham Racecourse. This is a season role with a lively environment and significant patron attendance.
Season and VenueCheltenham Racecourse is the home of Jump Racing. Seasonal events include The November Meet (Fri 14th – Sun 16th November 2025) and the Cheltenham Festival (10th – 13th March 2026). Season dates include the October Showcase, November Meeting, Christmas Meet, New Years Day Meet, Festival Trials Day, Cheltenham Festival, and other events.
Responsibilities- Be polite and professional to members of the public and the client
- Retain and use information relating to safety and for evacuation purposes
- Provide world class customer service to ensure visitors have a positive and memorable experience
- Retain and use information relating to key areas on site (medical room, toilets, bars, etc.)
- Ensure the safety of spectators by being observant and reporting incidents (venue capacities, intoxication, site breaches, medical incidents)
- Deliver the brief given by the supervisor (access control, way finding, ticket resolution)
Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided if you meet the criteria.
- Approachable person with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- Willingness to learn new skills and procedures
- Able to take direction and follow instructions
- Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
- Smart, presentable and punctual
- Commitment to work at least 50% of the season dates
Successful candidates will attend a pre-start induction and provide original documentation for screening and vetting (e.g., passport, driving licence, utility bill dated within last 3 months, HMRC letter, bank statement, payslip, birth certificate or valid share code).
