We are working with a growing construction and engineering business that is entering an exciting phase of expansion. They are now looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator to play a key role in securing new projects and supporting profitable delivery.
This is a pivotal position, offering early involvement in projects and real influence over commercial outcomes.
The RoleAs Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a range of construction projects. You’ll be involved from the early stages of tenders, assessing materials, labour, plant, transport, and subcontractor costs, while working closely with commercial, planning, and delivery teams.
This role is fundamental to winning work, achieving turnover targets, and protecting profitability, while ensuring customer needs are considered throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities- Understand client requirements and consider customer impact at all stages
- Prepare detailed tenders, including obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Manage and monitor key tenders from inception through to submission
- Carry out take-offs and measurements from design and contract documentation
- Interpret technical drawings and contract specifications
- Work closely with the Planning Team to develop programmes
- Liaise with the Commercial Team to agree contract terms
- Monitor cost forecasts and ensure alignment with project budgets
- Complete tender reviews and formal handovers for awarded contracts
- Prepare and submit accurate quotations
- Support bid submissions and procurement activities
- Research materials, equipment, labour costs, and market trends
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing and cost efficiency
- Prepare construction budgets and labour profiles prior to project handover
- Electrical background (essential)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated and organised
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working across multiple tenders and priorities
