Commissioning Manager

An established and growing engineering organisation delivering complex building services solutions across international projects is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning activities on technically demanding programmes.

Operating across mission-critical and industrial environments, this role is central to ensuring the successful delivery of HVAC, water and air systems within highly regulated project environments. You will play a pivotal part in driving quality, compliance and performance from installation through to final handover.

This is a globally focused position. While candidates can be based anywhere, there is a requirement for regular international travel to support live project sites.

As Commissioning Manager, you will take ownership of the commissioning lifecycle across multiple projects, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage commissioning activities for HVAC, water and air systems.
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate with design, construction and project management teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Oversee pre-commissioning, functional testing and performance validation.
• Manage specialist subcontractors and commissioning engineers on site.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, client specifications and local regulations.
• Review technical documentation, drawings and method statements.
• Identify and mitigate commissioning risks across international project environments.
• Support client witnessing, troubleshooting and final system handover.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to commissioning teams.

You are a technically strong commissioning professional with experience operating in complex engineering environments.

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning Engineer.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, water systems and air handling systems.
• Experience working on large-scale, technically complex projects (e.g. industrial, mission-critical, process or infrastructure environments).
• Demonstrated ability to manage commissioning programmes across multiple international sites.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and system integration.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interface directly with clients.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally for project delivery.
• Background in highly regulated or mission-critical environments.
• Familiarity with international commissioning standards and compliance requirements.
