We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our clients UK Transmission & Distribution team, supporting high-profile power infrastructure projects. This is a senior-level technical role requiring strong leadership, design capability, and experience within regulated utilities environments.
Key details:
Full-Time | 6-Month Rolling Contract | ASAP Start
Transmission & Distribution Sector (Power)
National Travel Required (Approx. 10%)
Rate: £500 P/D (LTD/PAYE/UMB)
Key Responsibilities:
Lead civil/structural design from concept through to detailed design completion
Produce and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations
Review vendor drawings and coordinate across disciplines, suppliers, and clients
Develop project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing plans, and construction planning
Manage change control processes effectively
Conduct quality reviews to ensure compliance with client, project, and industry standards
Support construction phase activities including inspections, site coordination, and resolving installation issues
Lead field inspections, calculations, and materials testing
Prepare and present technical reports
Contribute to sales, business development, and key bid pursuits
Lead cost proposal and qualification statement development
Manage project budgets and report performance
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Ensure QA/QC compliance
Maintain compliance with CDM 2015 and company/site safety policies
Experience &
Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
Chartered status (CEng)
Minimum 7 years’ civil/structural design experience
Strong experience working with National Grid, SSEN, and/or SPEN procedures
Working knowledge of CDM 2015 and Temporary Works
Proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD/BIM software, and structural analysis tools
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
Working Pattern
40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Based in Birmingham, with travel to client and project sites as required
Travel expected to be approximately 10% of working time (may vary depending on project requirements)
Must be able to arrange and manage their own travel and accommodation
