Project Manager, Operations Manager, Civil Engineering

Dragados UK & Ireland is looking for a Project Manager to support the Structures SPM in coordinating and managing specific packages of substructure and structure works, including planning, design validation and procurement in line with the Contractor’s Management Plan.

Responsibilities include coordination, procurement, performance management, safety, quality and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver substructure and structure packages on time, within budget and to HS2 standards.

• Provide information to Substructure and Structures SPMs for short and long‑form reports outlining progress, cost and issues, and attend delivery meetings with HS2 Substructure Lead.
• Co‑coordinate construction, design, procurement and commercial departments to ensure sub‑contract awards and commencement align with the schedule of works.
• Create a high‑performing structure team by setting SMART targets and managing performance.
• Promote a collaborative environment with stakeholders and supply chain; establish site organisation and facilitate effective communication.
• Ensure performance management processes and appropriate training are delivered.
• Deliver works to HS2 standards without defects, monitor workmanship, and conduct lessons‑learnt reviews for continuous improvement.
• Receive instructions from the client Construction Manager, clarifying authority levels and contractual communications.

• Excellent English communication and presentation skills; ability to report at project level.
• Working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996, Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and other relevant legislation.
• Commercially astute with experience of project controls and delivery to budget; NEC contract experience.
• Excellent organisational and people‑management/team‑building skills.

• Degree or higher level (or equivalent) in a numerate discipline, typically engineering; HNC/HND acceptable with significant experience.
• Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., Chartered or Fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers).
• Well‑developed IT skills, including BIM, AutoCAD and collaborative platforms.
• CSCS Card and completion of Safety for Senior Managers training.
• Significant experience of complex RC structures and station/transport interchange infrastructure, with mid‑management roles on similar‑scale projects.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and with exemplary safety, quality and sustainability record.
• Previous experience with major infrastructure clients (e.g.,  other UK or international organisations).
• Experience managing interfaces with other contractors and Network Rail projects.
