Energy Centre Engineer - North RegionHere’s what you’ll be doing
We are looking for an Energy Center Engineer to join EIS, this role will be covering the North Region – Based in or commutable distance to Sheffield with regular travel to other locations.

Right now, we’re looking for a Energy Centre Engineer to join our North team. Here you’ll complete maintenance activities through a balance of hands‑on and managing appropriate resources, for all mechanical, electrical and C&I issues that impact/are likely to impact on production. You’ll assist the Lead Engineer & Energy Centre Manager to understand and predict maintenance issues so that all plans accommodate suitable engineering resolutions, ensuring all maintenance plans are managed via the maintenance management system.

Main responsibilities:- Maintain Energy Centres, Boilers, District Heating Networks, associated plant and HIU’s within customers’ properties
- Support the identification, implementation and delivery of plant performance and improvement initiatives.
- Deliver planned and unplanned maintenance activities to meet or exceed business KPIs, including unplanned fault response within area of expertise.
- Support the development and delivery of the site Maintenance Plan, including annual maintenance scheduling to minimise contract labour.
- Analyse plant issues, provide technical advice and recommendations, and support decision‑making and contract processes in collaboration with the O&M Lead Engineer / Team Manager.
- Carry out plant inspections, defect identification and rectification in accordance with
E.ON procedures, with all activity accurately recorded in CMMS. - Support the Planning Team by raising, prioritising and progressing work instructions within CMMS, contributing to future maintenance strategy.
- Maintain site stock holdings of consumables and operational/strategic spares.
- Participate in the on‑call rota (1 week in
4). - Contribute to site SHE plans and safety initiatives, including reporting via PRISMA, and actively promote a positive safety culture.
- Work in line with CES Heat best practice and the business’s strategic, financial and policy guidelines, demonstrating a strong personal commitment to safety, health and the environment (SHE).
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Engineering qualification with sound knowledge of general engineering principles and experience in a specialist discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or C&I).
- Experience of working on domestic and commercial boilers, holding commercial Gas Safe Certificates, including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A and CODNCO1 or equivalent.
- Experience of Working on HIU's, District Heating Networks, Energy Centres and associated plant & equipment
- General Plumbing and Heating (HVAC)
- Ability and commitment to achieve and maintain
E.ON EC Engineer competency levels, including Authorised Engineer status.
- Experience of identifying improvement opportunities and construct challenging existing processes to enhance plant performance and efficiency.
- Strong safety awareness, with competence in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams and contractors, including appropriate challenge on methods, quality and standards of work.
- Good planning, organisational and prioritisation skills, with a working knowledge of CMMS and PC-based systems.
