LocationBased at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and.
Role Responsibilities- Lead and manage surface water and groundwater monitoring programmes across the N1 & N2 routes, including flow, level, transect, borehole, and stilling well data collection, ensuring compliance with monitoring schedules and consent requirements.
- Ensure accurate, timely data collection and reporting, maintaining high-quality monitoring records and transferring data promptly to the Water Team and Environmental Core Team Technical Leads for analysis and compensation.
- Oversee health, safety, and quality compliance, adhering to approved methodologies, updating RAMS and method statements, and ensuring calibration and maintenance of all monitoring and safety equipment.
- Manage personnel and resources, including supervision of the environmental technician and coordination of route-wide monitoring schedules to ensure efficient and consistent programme delivery.
- Identify, report, and resolve issues and incidents, including data collection problems, equipment damage or loss, and environmental incidents, working with relevant sublot water specialists and stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
- Proven experience in water environmental monitoring during construction, including work on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and achieving best environmental outcomes.
- High level of organisation, planning, and determination, with the ability to see tasks through to completion in demanding site environments.
- Technically and physically capable, including fitness to work in watercourses, ability to swim, full driving licence, and flexibility to work across multiple locations.
- Sound knowledge of environmental legislation and management principles, supported by good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and membership of a relevant environmental professional body.
