My client is a long-established manufacturing business based in Birmingham, supplying high-quality, design-led products to the luxury interiors market. With a strong heritage in precision engineering and craftsmanship, their products are trusted by architects, designers, developers, and premium clients both in the UK and internationally.
The RoleThey are seeking a Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer to join a growing and forward-thinking engineering team. This role will suit someone with strong CAD capability and hands‑on manufacturing knowledge, who enjoys working closely with production teams to develop practical, high-quality products. The ideal candidate will have experience in shop‑floor machining environments and be proficient in Autodesk Inventor, with a strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop products using CAD software, primarily Autodesk Inventor
- Produce accurate technical drawings and manufacturing specifications
- Review and check technical drawings for accuracy and compliance
- Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
- Support the manufacturing team with technical guidance and problem‑solving
- Ensure all design work aligns with company quality standards and values
- Strong alignment with company values, including integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
- Good working knowledge of metals and machining processes
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- High attention to detail with excellent problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Experience using Autodesk Vault
- Experience designing door, cabinet, or architectural hardware
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Hands‑on experience within shop‑floor machining or manufacturing environments
- Experience producing BOMs and technical documentation for production teams
- Salary up to £45,000 DOE
