Key Responsibilities
  • Create LV / HV electrical network designs and earthing assessments for domestic, commercial, and industrial projects - including single line diagrams, wiring layouts, cable schedules, and sizing calculations.
  • Secure DNO / IDNO design approval for all network and earthing solutions.
  • Ensure designs are accurate, delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with Utility Infrastructure Providers and DNOs / IDNOs.
  • Provide specialist advice on electrical networks and substations to project stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and help shape the department’s design strategy.

Skills and Experience Required
  • 5 years’ experience designing LV / HV (11kV / 33kV) networks, substations and earthing systems.
  • Degree / HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, ideally with Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Strong technical understanding of UK power industry standards — including DNO / IDNO construction requirements, G81 documentation, NERS compliance, CDM Regulations, N.R.S.W.A. and ISO 9001 / 14001 / 18001.
  • Confident using WinDEBUT / Vis Net and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of equipment specifications (cables, substations, plant).
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communicator — able to build strong client relationships, provide clear project updates and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
