17 is excited to partner with a market-leading renewable fuel infrastructure company at the forefront of the UK’s clean freight and heavy transport transition.
This pioneering business develops, builds, operates, and maintains cutting-edge Bio-LNG / Bio-CNG refuelling stations - empowering HGV fleets to drastically cut carbon emissions and drive sustainable change.
With multiple new stations planned over the next 2-3 years, this is a rare chance to lead a high-impact engineering team in a fast-growing company dedicated to decarbonising heavy transport.
About the RoleAs Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team across cryogenics, process, mechanical, field service, design, and control systems. You’ll be the technical authority, championing safe, compliant, and consistent engineering standards across design, construction, upgrades, and operations.
This role blends leadership, governance, safety, and technical excellence within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering specialists
- Own and evolve engineering standards, procedures & governance
- Ensure compliance with COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, PUWER, ISO & IEC regulations
- Approve designs, lead Management of Change (MoC)
- Provide technical oversight for new builds, upgrades, and retrofits
- Enhance asset reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Manage budgets, technical spend, and contractors
- Support capital planning, strategy, and business cases
- Degree qualified in Chemical, Process, Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- 8+ years’ experience in process / high-hazard environments (LNG or cryogenics a big plus)
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment & pressure systems
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams
- Deep understanding of UK safety legislation & risk management (COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, PUWER)
- Skilled in HAZOP, LOPA, risk assessments, and MoC
- Excellent communication & stakeholder management
- Thrives in fast-paced, growth environments
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK
