Job DescriptionAs a BIM/CAD Technician you will support engineering teams on 2D/3D commissions incorporating BIM Level 2 and help deliver light, heavy and metro urban infrastructure alongside signalling and track teams. You will produce and coordinate high‑quality BIM models, ensuring alignment with project standards and the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
Responsibilities- Assist in delivering projects from technical design to construction, mainly Urban design / landscape architecture.
- Apply architectural/urban design presentation skills and RIBA designs.
- Utilise Revit, Sketch Up & AutoCAD for detailed model creation and documentation, ensuring models are fully coordinated and clash‑free.
- Produce high‑quality detailed construction drawings for specific urban realm and public space projects, integrating with overall project models.
- Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager and wider project team to implement deliverables, adhere to standards and resolve issues.
- Maintain the project CDE, ensuring accurate data flow and adherence to data management standards.
- Participate in QA checks of drawings to meet accuracy, detail and information requirements.
- Monitor compliance with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and project standards, contributing to regular BIM deliverable status reports.
- Work closely with other disciplines to integrate and coordinate drawings/models, attending coordination meetings as necessary.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members on drawing and BIM‑related issues, promoting best practices.
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Urban Realm BIM/CAD Technician on major infrastructure/transportation projects.
- Experience working in an engineering production environment.
- Background in urban design or public realm.
- Delivered projects to UK BIM Standards including ISO 19650.
- Proficient with Autodesk Revit and Bentley Project Wise for CDE usage.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to produce integrated deliverables.
- Good knowledge of UK design standards (Network Rail, HS2, TfL).
- Familiarity with BEPs, TIDP, MIDP and MPDT.
- Adaptability to new BIM technologies and workflows, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning.
