A Little More About Your Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced PD Representative to provide specialist advice and guidance on CDM compliance, risk management, and health and safety throughout the design and construction process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure risk management processes are in line with CDM 2015 and the project’s deliverables, including Design Management Plans, risk registers, survey information and document control pathways.
  • Work closely with the project team to perform all aspects of the Principal Designer role.
  • Assist designers in applying Principles of Prevention to design out risks and hazards as far as reasonably practicable.
  • Provide and manage the Pre‑construction Information for all designers and contractors.
  • Prepare, maintain and pass on the Health and Safety File to the Principal Contractor or client as required.
  • Attend site to establish pre‑construction conditions, site layout and collect or assess previous H&S/O&M risk information.
  • Support the transfer of risk information from design teams to enable CPP development; review CPP, risk assessments and start‑up procedures.
  • Conduct safety audits on a regular frequency to monitor statutory compliance and report progress monthly.
  • Implement a near‑miss reporting mechanism and accident tracker within the client process.
  • Support continual improvement, promote lessons‑learnt sessions and enhance H&S awareness at all levels.
What We'll Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Construction Certificate.
  • Experience acting as CDM Principal Designer on medium to large projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and wider construction health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead meetings and engage confidently with clients, designers and contractors.
  • Proficiency in preparing pre‑construction information, risk registers and Health and Safety Files.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in a construction‑related discipline or civil engineering.
  • Experience with National Grid Transmission in a Principal Design Representative role or a comparable sector.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH, APS, RIBA, ICE, CIOB, CABE).
