Site Agent – Infrastructure

Location – Erith, Kent (with travel required)

Purpose of the role:

As a Site Agent, you will take full responsibility for managing your section of works, ensuring delivery meets client and company performance expectations. This role involves regular travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Oversee a section of works on a day-to-day basis, including supervision and monitoring of site teams and supply chain partners.
  • Plan, control, and monitor progress, coordinating allocated sections of the project.
  • Manage multiple work packages in conjunction with the commercial team, taking full ownership of costs for your section.
  • Capture and manage any changes in scope (operations, commercial, programme, or design).
  • Understand temporary works requirements and implement value engineering solutions.
  • Attend external meetings with clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships.
  • Report progress and performance to the Project Manager and assist with cost forecasting, valuation, and reporting systems.
  • Lead weekly and monthly site meetings and ensure all teams work to the latest design information.
  • Conduct material take-offs, order materials, and reconcile usage.
  • Carry out regular Health & Safety checks and CDM audits, ensuring compliance with RAMS, Permit to Work systems, inductions, and safety briefings.
  • Resolve unexpected technical issues and maintain strict quality control procedures.
  • Ensure site diaries are kept up to date and lead direct reports effectively, including annual PDRs.
  • Monitor capability of staff and contractors for current and future workloads, reporting to senior management.
  • Identify and assist in introducing new processes, techniques, and innovations on site.

About you:

Competency Requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple or larger packages of work.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting data, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills.
  • Confident in interfacing with site teams, subcontractors, designers, and clients.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and NEC contracts.
  • Proven leadership, delegation, and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Committed to Health & Safety responsibilities and company policies.
  • Able to demonstrate alignment with Galliford Try values:

Technical / Professional Qualifications Required
  • SMSTS and relevant CSCS card.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable).
  • First Aid (desirable).
  • Relevant experience in water infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of functional areas through job experience and training.
  • Experience completing PDRs for direct reports.
  • Previous relevant business experience or transferable skills.
  • Part-qualified professional in a relevant discipline (desirable).
