English Teaching Assistant September 2026
- July 2027 £ 85 - £105 per day ‘Good’ secondary school, Ward of Edgbaston English academic support across KS3 and KS4
The Role:
Work with the English department to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 in reading, writing, comprehension, and literary analysis.
You will provide 1:1 support, lead small-group interventions, help pupils develop confidence in written work, and support revision for assessments and GCSE English.
You will also help prepare concise resources, reinforce key lesson content, and share clear feedback with teachers on pupil progress.
Teaching support roles commonly include working with small groups, preparing materials, and supporting learning activities in class.
Candidate ProfileYou hold a degree, communicate clearly, and can explain English concepts in a simple and structured way.
You are organised, positive, and keen to build practical experience in a secondary school before moving into teacher training or another education-based career.
Requirements- Degree
- A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Roles involving regulated activity with children can require an Enhanced DBS check, and in some cases a Children’s Barred List check.
- Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
