Design Technology Teacher

Are you passionate about inspiring creativity and practical skills in young people? Flourish Education is recruiting a Design & Technology / Food Technology Teacher for a long-term role in Rubery, starting after Easter and continuing to the end of the academic year. This role offers the chance to teach a mix of DT and Food Technology while working in a supportive and well-resourced school environment.

The school boasts modern, state‑of‑the‑art facilities, allowing teachers to deliver engaging, hands‑on lessons that develop students’ practical skills and creativity. Behaviour across the school is excellent, and staff benefit from the support of a highly effective and approachable leadership team. Although initially temporary, this role offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. QTS is required.

• Deliver engaging Design & Technology and Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4)
• Teach a range of practical and theoretical content, including materials, resistant materials, textiles, food preparation and nutrition
• Follow the National Curriculum and adapt lessons to meet different learning needs
• Maintain excellent behaviour management within workshop and classroom environments
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing constructive feedback
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff within the Secondary School
• Work confidently as a Supply Teacher across a variety of DT and Food classes

• Design & Technology Teacher, Food Technology Teacher, DT Teacher, Food Tech Teacher, Secondary Teacher, DT ECT, Food ECT, Supply Teacher
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT)
• Excellent subject knowledge across DT disciplines and Food Technology
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for KS3 and KS4
• Skilled in maintaining safe working environments, particularly in practical lessons
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Passion for delivering hands‑on, high‑quality lessons that motivate and challenge pupils

• £150 to £240 day rate, which equates to £29,250 to £46,800 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year

This Design & Technology / Food Technology Teacher position is based in Dudley, easily commutable from Kingswinford, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Halesowen, Wolverhampton, Tipton and surrounding areas. The Secondary School benefits from excellent transport links across the Black Country and wider West Midlands.
