Excelsior Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Trustee with experience in Special Education Needs / disability / charities, whether this comes from work or lived experience. As a trustee with expertise in SEND, you will play a key role in helping the Board oversee and strengthen our inclusive education strategy with confidence. Your insight will be especially valuable as we continue to develop and refine our SEND provision across the Trust.

By fulfilling this role, you will help ensure that all pupils—particularly those with SEND—have access to the opportunities they need to succeed.

What will you be doing?

Our Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Excelsior Multi Academy Trust fulfils its mission to provide inclusive, high-quality education for all pupils. As a SEND Trustee, you will help oversee the strategic direction and governance of the Trust, with a particular focus on ensuring that our provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is effective, equitable, and aligned with our values.

You will support and challenge the senior leadership team to ensure that SEND strategy is embedded across all academies, that legal and regulatory requirements are met, and that the Trust’s vision for inclusion is realised in practice.

Your particular responsibilities as SEND Trustee will include
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of SEND provision across the Trust
  • Ensuring that SEND pupils’ outcomes and experiences are regularly reviewed and improved
  • Supporting the development of inclusive policies and practices
  • Providing strategic oversight and guidance on SEND funding, staffing, and compliance
