About HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)
HMCTS is the agency of the Ministry of Justice responsible for the administration of courts and tribunals in England and Wales. Our work supports service users and colleagues within HMCTS. We work across several service lines including Social Service & Child Support, Family Public Law, Probate, Crime, Immigration & Asylum, Divorce, Online Civil Money Claims and the Single Justice Service.
You will be responsible for the ongoing onboarding training that new staff receive, or that staff need when moving to new duties. You will ensure they develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge to deliver an inclusive and accessible service to diverse users. The role focuses on the short to medium‑term learning needs of the learners.
Responsibilities- Onboard new staff and deliver regular training & coaching sessions.
- Provide leadership and embed the culture and ways of working for National Services across all jurisdictions.
- Coach learners on improvement in specific business areas.
- Guide learners to understand and take responsibility for their own development.
- Measure learners performance against HMCTS and National Services service standards.
- Adapt coaching approach to different learners to create the best learning environment.
- Work flexibly with a hybrid model when training can be delivered from home effectively.
- Occasional travel to other national service sites.
- Leadership and people coaching skills.
- Business‑specific knowledge and experience.
- Desirable: CIPD or equivalent coaching and training qualification.
- Strong communication skills – telephone, email, webchat.
- Judgement to assess capability, competence and potential.
- Knowledge of learning resources and solutions.
- Resilience and authority to manage learners effectively, even in challenging situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to tailor coaching style to learners’ needs while meeting business requirements.
The office is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Standard full‑time hours are 37 hours per week. You may be required to travel occasionally to other sites. Hybrid working arrangements are considered on a non‑contractual basis; any hybrid working will be determined by the business and are relative to particular service lines and the need for office‑based training.
