As a Lecturer in Computing you will deliver modules around the programme’s three main themes:
Technology, Software, and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that equip students with knowledge of database systems, internet technologies, data, cybersecurity, networking, and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching, and assessment and keep up to date with latest developments in the field and student support practices.
- All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met
- Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate
- Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials
- Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties
- Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices
- Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression
- Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
- Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
- Extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
- Programming and software development
- Web development
- Database systems
- Cloud computing
- Networking
- Cybersecurity
- IoT and emerging technologies
- Business IT systems
- IT management
- AI and Machine Learning
- Operating Systems
- UI/UX
- Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
- Experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records
- Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
- Experience of design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent
- 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays
- 1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days
