Supply Teaching Assistant across Birmingham

West Midlands/ temporary / £90 - 110 per day

Teacher Active is proud to work with schools across Birmingham supporting young children between Primary and Secondary ages with Social Emotional and Mental Health/SEMH needs in their development both socially and academically, creating a nurturing environment for them to grow and flourish.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work with students and teachers to develop personalized support plans for each student while implementing strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and promote a safe learning environment. You will assist teachers to develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to each individual student’s abilities, learning styles and needs, frequently carrying out 1:1 and small group learning support for students with additional needs.

You will look after the students’ physical, social and mental welfare by creating a safe environment and adapting your teaching support according to their needs.

The schools are looking for a dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant who can support on a full-time, part-time, temporary and permanent basis. They provide extensive experience which can help you grow as a professional while being paid at market-leading rates. Our SEND consultants will help match placements to your availability, preference and skills.

The ideal TA / Teaching Assistant should have the following:

• Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months’ experience in an educational establishment
• A calm, patient and caring persona
• A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
• Experience in supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Effective communication with internal staff
