About the Role:
Are you confident, resilient and passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are working with a specialist secondary provision in Wolverhampton that supports pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Many pupils have experienced barriers to mainstream education and require consistent support, clear boundaries, and positive role modelling to help them re-engage with learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 within a structured and nurturing environment where relationship building and behaviour support are key.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
* Support emotional regulation and implement behaviour management strategies.
* Assist the class teacher with differentiated learning activities.
* Build positive and professional relationships with pupils to promote engagement and trust.
* Help maintain a calm, structured and safe classroom environment.
Requirements:
* Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable.
* A resilient, patient and proactive approach.
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST:
* Hold Right to Work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one
* Provide two professional, child-related references covering the last two years
