Job Title: SEN Specialist Tutor (One-to-One, Flexible Hours)

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £675 – £1125 Per Week

Job Type: Flexible (Part-time/Full-time)

About Us

We are a passionate and dedicated provider of educational support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with autism, complex learning needs, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Our mission is to deliver meaningful, tailored, one‑to‑one tuition to children who are currently not attending school and are in need of additional support.

We are looking for a SEN Specialist Tutor to join our growing team, working with children with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a truly impactful role where you’ll provide direct support to children who face significant barriers to learning, helping them re‑engage, build confidence, and achieve both academic and personal progress.

The Role

As a SEN Specialist Tutor
, you will work with children who are not currently attending school, providing personalized, one‑to‑one tuition either in their homes or at local learning centres. You’ll be helping children with EHCPs who require additional support due to autism, complex learning needs, or SEMH challenges.

Your role will be to help these students overcome their learning barriers by tailoring lessons to meet each child’s specific needs. This is not a one‑size‑fits‑all job. Instead, you’ll adapt your teaching style and methods to the individual child, ensuring they receive the right support in a comfortable, engaging, and supportive environment. You’ll be the key to helping them not only catch up academically but regain the confidence and self‑esteem that might have been lost due to their challenges.

It’s meaningful work, where you’ll see the impact of your efforts first‑hand. Helping a young person, who may have struggled for a long time, begin to thrive again is incredibly rewarding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one tutoring for children with a range of SEN, including autism, SEMH, and other complex learning needs.
  • Create and deliver personalized lessons based on each child’s EHCP, ensuring their individual needs and learning styles are met.
  • Help children engage with the curriculum, build essential skills, and make progress academically and personally.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to track the child’s development and provide updates.
  • Collaborate with schools, local authorities, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s progress.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment that helps children gain confidence in their abilities.
Some Key Benefits of the Role
  • Flexible working: You’ll have the freedom to manage your own diary, which works particularly well for those balancing family life, other work commitments, or the school run.
  • Freedom to teach your way: Lessons are fully tailored to each child’s unique needs and EHCP, so you can teach in a way that works best for them and you.
  • Make a real difference: This role gives you the chance to work with children at a critical time in their education, helping them re‑engage with learning and support their journey to academic and emotional stability.
  • Good rates of pay: Competitive pay rates, with the potential for additional referrals to increase your income.
  • Professional collaboration: You’ll work closely with schools, local authorities, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the child, with regular feedback and support.
  • Ongoing support: Our home tuition team is here for you. You’ll have a direct point of contact by phone or email for any advice or support you need.
Key Requirements
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred, but not essential if you have relevant experience in SEN support.
  • Passion for helping children overcome learning barriers and achieve their full potential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with parents, schools, and other professionals.
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to…
