Join Birmingham City University’s IT Department as an IT Training and Development Officer. You will support staff and students in developing technical and digital literacy through a blend of eLearning, virtual classrooms and face‑to‑face workshops.
Responsibilities- Train staff and students in IT knowledge, techniques, and skills using appropriate methods, equipment, and content.
- Provide detailed instruction and respond to staff and student queries via the IT Service Desk.
- Contribute to the maintenance and update of training records and the published training portfolio.
- Create and maintain training materials and documentation, including video content.
- Design and deliver starter, beginner, and intermediate workshops for various applications and software.
- Design and develop online and digital content (including eLearning).
- Develop and deliver the portfolio of training aligned to the IT Training Strategy.
- Deliver IT Staff Inductions.
- Evaluate the training delivery mechanisms and content to contribute to continual service improvement.
- Explore new approaches to training and make recommendations on delivery methods.
- Support and mentor the IT Academy through the development and delivery of effective training plans.
- Educated to bachelor degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification.
- Experience of providing support for teaching, instruction, and training activities.
- Proficient experience in using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication skills with the ability to enthuse, persuade, and influence.
- Experience of the tools and support services available within the training arena.
- Knowledge of appropriate information gathering methods, tools and techniques.
- Experience of delivering effective presentations and learning and development content.
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
