SEND Teaching Assistant - Personal Care Support

Teacher Active is delighted to be supporting a range of welcoming Primary Schools in South Birmingham, who are seeking compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants who are confident providing personal care to pupils with additional needs.

If you are passionate about helping children thrive, comfortable supporting their medical and physical needs, and enjoy working across different school environments, this role offers endless opportunities for the right candidate.

The Role:

Providing day-to-day support for pupils with a range of SEND needs (e.g. ASD, MLD, PMLD, physical disabilities, medical needs)

Carrying out personal care, including toileting, feeding and hygiene routines

Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups depending on need

Assisting with mobility, transitions and classroom engagement

Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff

Maintaining dignity, safety and wellbeing at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, especially those requiring personal care

A calm, nurturing and patient approach

Confidence working with children with complex needs

A qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (Level 2 or Level
3) or equivalent

Flexibility to work across various Primary Schools in South Birmingham

Ability to provide two references from recent employers

A valid DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to complete a new DBS through Teacher Active

Full eligibility to work in the UK
