About

The Role

An exciting opportunity to work in the Temporary Accommodation Service. The Housing Solutions & Support service is experiencing unprecedented demand around the use of temporary accommodation, with over 5,600 households currently in temporary accommodation. The role is based at Birmingham City Council.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Visit empty properties to conduct inspections, arrange lock changes and raise orders for furnishings.
  • Be IT literate and demonstrate resilience in a highly pressurised area of the business, making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Work as part of a team, staying organised, updating systems promptly and moving work towards resolution each day.
  • Contact customers to ensure they have moved out of temporary accommodation, collect keys and update systems.
  • Carry out daily visits; a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and a car allowance are required.
  • Receive full training, shadowing, mentoring and coaching.
  • Work hybrid – spend time on the road and work from a Birmingham City Council office each week, including lone working.
  • Meet KPI and performance targets to ensure void properties are moved on daily.
  • Cover for emergencies, sickness and annual leave as needed, and provide city‑wide wrap‑around support.
  • Have a can‑do attitude, be flexible, adaptable and able to work well under pressure.
Essential For This Role

Knowledge of Landlord & Tenant legislation and HHSRS requirements is essential.
