Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential Developer | West Sussex

I’m supporting a respected UK house builder in hiring an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team covering West Sussex and surrounding regions. The scheme is a large scale mixed use project with 1,500 homes including 450 affordable homes, a 60 bed care home, a new primary school and a new local centre.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an SQS who enjoys taking ownership of projects, influencing cost strategy, and working closely with technical, land and construction teams across multiple residential developments.

🛠 Key responsibilities

• Full commercial management of residential housing projects
• Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
• Managing subcontract procurement and tendering
• Contract administration and variations
• Ensuring projects meet cost, quality, and programme targets
• Building strong relationships with site teams, subcontractors and internal stakeholders

👤 Ideal experience

• Proven experience as a PQS / SQS / Commercial lead working within a residential house builder
• Strong background in Quantity Surveying within house building or main contracting
• Comfortable managing multiple sites at various stages
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a wider commercial team
• Degree in Surveying or similar
• Working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

📍 Location

West Sussex-based role with travel to local sites.
