We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our team at Harborne Road.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the management team providing professional leadership and management to nursery staff to ensure children receive the highest standards of care and education.
  • Ensure children reach their fullest potential in a purposeful, friendly, caring, and relaxing environment where they are safe and happy at all times.
  • Carry out overall day‑to‑day management of the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
  • Assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring compliance with all legislation relating to registration with regulatory bodies, special needs, safeguarding and child protection, and adherence to policies at all times.
  • Maintain and uphold all safeguarding procedures and early years regulations.
  • Support staff teams, improve practice and foster professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years.
  • Minimum of 2 years post‑qualifying experience working with children aged 0‑5 years.
  • Experience leading, supervising, and supporting staff teams to improve practice.
  • Sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years.
  • Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • Understanding of play‑based approach to children’s learning and development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory bodies.
  • Understanding of the role of key person.
  • Sound knowledge of all safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with adults and children.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents and outside agencies.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Willingness to undertake further relevant training, including some evenings and weekends.
  • UK experience and UK references required for verification.
  • Successful candidate will undergo a DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
