We have an exciting Bid writing opportunity to Join our team s role will be based at Amey, International Design Hub, 20 Colmore Circus Queensway, Birmingham B4 6AT
– this role will be hybrid working with occasional travel to our London office.
This salary for this role is £35,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience).
Are you a bid writer keen to make your mark on multi‑million pound strategic bids? How would you like to grow your expertise and knowledge across a variety of sectors, from defence and nuclear to justice and transportation?
Join us in this remote role in our newly centralised bidding team at Amey, and use your first‑class writing and interviewing skills to craft compelling responses and evidence for truly transformational bids. You’ll work with other writers and a range of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from across Amey to support our Complex Facilities Management business.
Do you already have some bid writing experience? Are you keen to upskill, with exposure to a range of fast‑moving sectors? Then this is the perfect next step for you.
What you will do:- Read and analyse client documentation, picking out key requirements and ambitions to ensure solutions provide maximum benefit and relevance
- Determine bid response structure and lead storyboard sessions with SMEs to create answer plans
- Draft responses and work with SMEs to action comments and ensure accuracy
- Work closely with Graphic Designers to visually enhance responses
- Ensure consistency to quality and word count requirements
- Collaborate with Bid Management to overcome any barriers so deadlines are met
- Proactively improve efficiency of the bid process, including developing evidence and boilerplate passages that can be reused; interviewing SMEs for new knowledge
- Leverage our AI tool to support content generation for bids
- Support the post‑tender lessons learned process to help embed continuous improvement in bid writing.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in bidding; this may be in a complex facilities management, transport, infrastructure or consultancy setting
- Excellent writing ability: you must be confident writing and editing high‑quality content to deadlines
- Knowledge of public sector procurement and bidding best practice
- Resilience, flexibility and positivity to support multi‑stage bids
- Experience of developing and maintaining knowledge information libraries
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the confidence to interact with a variety of internal stakeholders at all organisational levels and develop relationships to establish trust, credibility and respect
