Overview

Join our Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) team as a full time, permanent Business Support Assistant and play a key role in supporting safeguarding and child protection services.

This team provides advice and guidance to employers, organisations and other individuals who have concerns about the behaviour of an adult who works with children and young people. We monitor the progress of cases to ensure they are dealt with as quickly as possible and are consistent with a thorough and fair process. We organise and support LADO meetings where concerns are regarding a person in a position of trust.

You will provide essential administrative support to the LADO team, managing the referral process and ensuring all timescales are met. This includes supporting LADO strategy meetings by preparing documentation, producing meeting outputs, and coordinating schedules, including sending invites and updating calendars. You will carry out Ofsted and CASS checks as required, assist with post-meeting tasks such as case-management updates, and maintain accurate records on internal systems.

Additionally, you will support the team by producing data for FOI and annual reports, handling Freedom of Information requests, and responding promptly to queries from both internal and external customers.

We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, UK so you must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. We do not support sponsorship.

About you:

You are a proactive, ‘can-do’ professional with a passion for delivering high-quality services and achieving excellent results. You work well within a collaborative team, are customer-focused, and approach your role with flexibility and a positive attitude.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent attention to detail, with strong literacy and numeracy skills to work accurately
  • Works proactively and independently, taking initiative to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Is flexible and adaptable, able to work effectively as part of a diverse team, provide cover when needed, and multitask across roles to maintain continuity of service
  • Demonstrates strong organisational skills and can effectively capture and act on outputs from meetings
  • Can manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on achieving business objectives
