ADCU Receptionist

To work as part of a team to provide clerical and receptionist support to the Admissions and Day Case Unit. Effectively communicating with patients and the multidisciplinary team and contributing to a positive patient experience throughout the Unit.
Welcome patients to the Admissions and Day Case Unit in a professional and courteous manner.
Liaise with relatives and carers.
Admit patients on PAS.
Update patient demographics on PAS and generate the relevant documentation for the patients' admission.
Monitor the waiting area, being observant and conscious of the flow of patients in the Unit ensuring patients move through the Unit in accordance with the Theatre schedule and Trust policies and procedures.
Monitor and update the patient activity and assist Nursing/Theatre staff with the patient journey through the Unit.
Record Ward attendances on PAS and inform coding team.
Transfer patients on PAS to Wards as appropriate.
Discharge patients on PAS.
Book review appointments for patients following advice from Nursing staff.
Main duties of the jobRecord VTE Assessment data and report information.
Record cancellations on PAS/ORMIS/THEATREMAN and liaise with the Bed manager, Medical Secretaries, Medical Secretary Team Leaders, Scheduled Care Coordinators, and other relevant staff in a timely manner.
Ensure case notes are available for all patients attending the Admissions and Day Case Unit.
Ensure all relevant clinical annotation is filed in the case notes prior to admission.
Prepare paperwork and case notes for future admissions.
Ensure all clinical documentation is filed correctly in the case notes.
Track case notes in and out of the Admissions and Day Case Unit on PAS.
Deliver case notes to the Coding Office daily in a timely manner.
Ensure all calls into ADCU Reception are answered in a courteous and timely manner.
Coordinate and book hospital transport for patients when required.
Access and update all relevant information systems including PAS, ORMIS, and other systems deemed appropriate by the team leader and Senior Sister.
Provide administrative support to the ADCU and Ward Manager incorporating printing, photocopying and faxing.
Order stationery and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
Open and distribute post and action emails promptly.
Work as a team providing cover for annual and sick leave.
Provide accurate information for the ADCU Manager and Ward Manager.
Attend and participate in Team meetings.
Adhere to Trust policies and procedures.

Person Specification Qualifications- Maths and English GCSE grade C or equivalent.
- Knowledge of NHS patient systems
- Use of Microsoft Office packages
- Knowledge and ability to demonstrate customer care
- Prior NHS experience is desirable
- General administration/clerical experience. Working as part of a team. Experience of working with the general public.

- Ability to work under pressure
- Able to prioritise own workload guided by standard operating procedures and policies under the supervision of the ADCU Team Leader.
- Able to work as part of a team and use own initiative. Ability to communicate with patients and staff of all levels
- Flexibility to work varying shift patterns to cover the full service
