Job SummaryWe are looking to hire an experienced part‑time Medical Receptionist/Admin Assistant to join the ACE Medical Partnership Practices. The position requires 20–25 hours per week, with coverage for both morning and afternoon shifts over 4–5 days each week. The role is located across our main surgery at Pound Road and branch surgeries at Maypole Health Centre, "Dr Aneja", and Birmingham Heartlands Surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Open and secure the practice premises, deactivating alarms, and ensure the reception and waiting areas are tidy, safe and welcoming.
- Maintain the appointment system – booking routine, urgent and follow‑up appointments, managing patient flow effectively.
- Perform telephone triage in accordance with practice protocols, directing patients to the most appropriate clinician or service without providing clinical advice.
- Register new patients accurately, update patient records, handle repeat prescriptions and manage patient information securely.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, scanning, photocopying, and general clerical support for clinical and administrative staff.
- Advise patients on private service charges, accept payments and issue receipts.
- Support clinical waste collections and other logistical duties as required.
- Follow health and safety policies, infection control procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient, staff and practice information in line with GDPR and practice policies.
- Participate in training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake additional duties suitable to the role and as requested by the Partners, Practice Manager or Senior Receptionist.

Qualifications- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or NVQ Level 3.
- Competent with computers, organisational, reliable, punctual and adaptable across all Practice sites.
- Reception and admin assistant work experience, preferably in a medical setting.
- Competence and confidence in using computers.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check to assess any previous criminal convictions.
SalaryCompetitive salary depending on experience.
