The Role & Key Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the National Ballistics Intelligence Service based in Birmingham as a Business Support Assistant.
- Provide administrative support to the unit, enabling the efficient and effective operation of NABIS.
- Support national and local governance meetings with logistics, minute taking and action management.
- Act as the central point of contact for purchasing requests, including ammunition, forensic equipment, stationery and uniform orders.
- Process travel bookings and hotel arrangements for NABIS staff travelling nationally and internationally, including insurance requirements and expense claims.
- Maintain NABIS records, equipment, facilities and asset management.
- Experience of entering/inputting data onto relevant information systems, displaying attention to detail and ensuring that records and other entries are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
- Administrative experience and the ability to multi‑task to deliver a quality service.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word to fulfil role requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
- Represent the service in a professional and helpful manner and assist in the delivery of effective and efficient administrative support.
- GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C/4 or above) essential.
- GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade C/4 or above) essential.
As an apprentice West Midlands Police will train you and you will undertake a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, which will include a fully recognised apprenticeship qualification, on‑the‑job competency training, and training delivered online with occasional site visits by a vocational skills coach to assess you in the workplace.
This is an 18‑month apprenticeship programme with a 21‑month contract of employment.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for a permanent position if there is one available, but there is no guarantee.
VettingSuccessful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, including a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
