Due to retirement, we are recruiting aGP Receptionist to join our busy, friendly GP practice. This role plays a key part in delivering an efficient, professional and compassionate service to our patients.
Working Hours
Shifts will be worked on a rota and will include:

Main duties of the job- Greeting and assisting patients in person and by telephone
- Booking appointments and managing clinic schedules
- Processing repeat prescription requests
- Updating and maintaining patient records
- Managing patient queries sensitively and confidentially
- Using clinical systems accurately, including EMIS
- Carrying out a range administrative tasks such as registrations, deductions and managing emails etc.

To provide an efficient, friendly and professional reception and administrative service to patients, clinicians and the wider practice team. Receptionare the first point of contact for patients and must ensure that all enquiriesare handled courteously, confidentially and in line with practice policies.
Welcome patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner.
Answer incoming telephone calls promptly, usingthe practices call handling protocols.

Book, amend and cancel appointments using the clinical system.
Signpost patients appropriately to the correct service or clinician.
Handle patient queries, concerns and requests with empathy and clarity.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and practice policies.
Administration
Process repeat prescription requests accuratelyand in line with practice procedures.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence,including emails, letters and documents.
Scan, code and file clinical documents ontopatient records.
Support clinicians with administrative taskssuch as printing, photocopying and preparing documents.
Maintain accurate patient information and updaterecords when required.
Clinical System & Data Handling
Use the practice clinical system (EMIS) tomanage appointments, records and tasks.
Ensure data is entered accurately and promptly.
Follow protocols for safeguarding, data protection and information governance.
Operational Support
Assist with the smooth running of clinics,including monitoring waiting rooms and supporting clinicians.
Handle payments for private services where applicable.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions and quality improvement activities.
Follow all practice policies, including healthand safety, infection control and confidentiality.
Person Specification Experience- Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting.
- Experience using EMIS.
- Commitment to confidentiality and data protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills with a patient centered approach.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally.
- Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
