SSW Laborer Part-Time

POSITION PURPOSE

The City of Birmingham (EOE) is seeking qualified candidates for the part‑time position of Streets/Sewer/Water (SSW) Laborer in the Department of Public Services. Under the supervision of the Streets/Sewer/Water Foreman, this entry‑level position performs maintenance and operation of public infrastructure.

• Possession of a high school diploma, or its equivalent
• Minimum age of 18 years old with a valid driver's license
• Prefer 2-3 years of experience in the operation of light and medium‑duty construction equipment
• Prefer possession of a State of Michigan commercial driver's license, group A or B, with tanker endorsement

• Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to work outside in extreme conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain, etc.)
• Must be able to operate heavy machinery
