The Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PMEL) plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team while developing their own leadership skills in preparation for increasing responsibility.
As a PMEL, you will build upon your skills and responsibilities as a Staff or District Support Pharmacist and gain additional competencies to become ready for a Pharmacy Manager (PM) role. You will be expected to complete a self‑paced, collaborative training roadmap through virtual and hands‑on learning experiences, typically completed in 3‑6 months. While completing the roadmap, you will continue delivering our purpose, modeling our values, and demonstrating authentic care for our patients.
Core Responsibilities:- Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up.
- Assuming the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team, and collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team.
- Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
- Supporting the effective management of pharmacy inventory, especially cold chain products.
- Partnering with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalating issues as needed.
- Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the Pharmacy Manager by writing schedules and ensuring compliance with all scheduling requirements.
- Maintaining clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs, and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
- Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
- Understanding and complying with all relevant federal and state laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; complying with CVS Health policies and procedures.
- 6+ months of experience as a Staff or District Support Pharmacist.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
