T-AT-Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a motivated Staff Accountant to join a dynamic team in Birmingham, Michigan. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your accounting expertise while contributing to a fast-paced service industry environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger operations and a keen ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations to facilitate timely and accurate closing processes.

- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with local and state regulations.

- Utilize Microsoft Excel to analyze and organize financial data effectively.

- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving discrepancies.

- Support team members with ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting needs.

- Collaborate with management to improve accounting processes and efficiency.

- Conduct detailed reviews of financial transactions to maintain accuracy and compliance.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

- Handle other accounting-related responsibilities as assigned. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger activities.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.

- Familiarity with JD Edwards or similar accounting software.

- Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations.

- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
