The Role Are you someone who takes pride in working safely, independently, and with precision? Road & Rail Services is seeking a dependable Transload Loader to safely transfer ethanol between railcars and tank trucks at our Birmingham facility.
This is a permanent, on-call position supporting critical supply chain operations. Candidates must be available 24/7, as work is performed entirely based on operational demand. When called in, you will handle ethanol transfers exclusively, performing essential, safety-sensitive work outdoors in a highly regulated industrial environment.
Requirements
Must-Haves
* 100% On-Call Availability:
You must be able to respond to work demands 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
* Extreme Heights:
Must possess the equilibrium to climb ladders, cross 3-to-4-foot open spans, and work on top of railcars at heights of 15 to 20 feet.
* Physical Stamina:
Ability to walk up to 10 miles in a single shift, frequently grip with forces up to 80 lbs, and lift/pull up to 60 lbs.
* Weather Tolerance:
Ability to work entirely outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and noise).
* Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Nice-to-Haves:
* Prior experience operating in industrial environments or handling hazardous materials.
* Strong mechanical aptitude for light maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
* Safely transfer ethanol between railcars and tanks, including preparing the product through heating, sparging, and sampling.
* Climb up to 20 feet to inspect, seal, and monitor tank cars and trucks.
* Operate equipment such as tractors, utility carts, and pumps
* Perform routine equipment inspections and light mechanical maintenance on all assigned tools.
* Maintain highly accurate transfer logs, hazardous waste manifests, and facility documentation.
* Strictly follow all OSHA, FRA, EPA, and DOT safety procedures and reporting standards while wearing all required site Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
