Position Objective

The Senior Driver assists the Delivery Manager in delivery, storage, and merchandising of company products in each assigned account. The Senior Driver is also responsible for safe truck operation and for handling all money, unsold product, and empties.

Description of Physical Tasks

• Keep shelves and vendor areas clean.
• Move product on hand truck or dolly (20-50 lbs per case).
• Load appropriate company products onto truck.
• Follow proper lifting techniques and climb out of vehicle safely.

Responsibilities

• Report to work on time and stay until assignment is complete.
• Work with the Zone Delivery Manager to manage day‑to‑day operations and training.
• Assist in training new hires and safety programs.
• Serve as acting delivery manager during manager’s absence.
• Maintain working knowledge of all delivery routes.
• Ensure trucks are properly loaded to prevent damage.
• Perform counts on product load‑out and load‑in each day with warehouse personnel.
• Sign load‑out and load‑in sheets.
• Make deliveries according to route sequence, avoiding busy retailer times when possible.
• Properly rotate product within cooler, displays, and backroom.
• Merchandise front‑facing packages and displays as per guidelines.
• Build, merchandise, and sign displays per sales instructions.
• Use PO and POS properly and in correct quantity.
• Complete special attention items, paperwork, and procedures.
• Collect monies due and check them in.
• Safely handle empties and unsold product.
• Inspect vehicle each morning per DOT regulations.
• Keep DOT logs current.
• Attend safety and driver meetings.
• Obey traffic laws and maintain courteous conduct.
• Keep truck outside and clean.
• Serve customers politely.
• Service and repair vehicle when necessary.
• At last delivery stop load all empty pallets into one bay per side.
• Maintain positive relationships with owners, managers, employees.
• Show sincere interest in account success.
• Communicate clearly with owners, managers, employees.
• Report new competitive activity.
• Communicate delivery changes immediately to Delivery Manager/Salesperson.
• Check for additional assignments after scheduled deliveries.
• Ensure proper rotation and code dates.
• Dress in uniform and maintain professional appearance.
• Return all equipment used (radios, hand trucks, vehicles, etc.).
• Follow all company policies, liquor control regulations, and safety practices.
• Report traffic violations, accidents, or injuries immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
