Software Engineer, Senior Developer, AI Engineer

Overview

A fast-growing, healthcare-focused SaaS company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help scale its next generation of AI-driven patient engagement products. This hire will be one of the most senior technical contributors internally and will play a key role in shaping product architecture, shipping high-impact features, and driving execution velocity in a startup environment.

• Architect, design, and build scalable software solutions that power new patient-facing product features.
• Rapidly absorb sprint priorities and execute with high throughput and ownership.
• Develop and launch new conversational workflows and AI-enabled functionality.
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and overall product quality.
• Collaborate closely with Product to translate client feedback and market demands into shipped features.
• Enhance client-facing UX and reporting capabilities.
• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers as needed.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Experience working in startup or high-growth SaaS environments preferred.
• Proven ability to build and ship new product functionality from concept to production.
• Strong understanding of scalable architecture and performance optimization.
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Comfortable operating without heavy structure or rigid technical guardrails.
• Experience leveraging AI tools within the development workflow is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Product and leadership.
• Must be willing to work fully on-site in Birmingham, AL.
