Perform skilled work at the Master Electrician level in the maintenance, repair, installation, and improvement of all electrical and electronic equipment throughout the Board’s system. Work with contractors and internal engineering departments on ongoing and future projects.
Essential Job Functions:- Performed skilled work at the Master Electrician level in maintenance, repair, installation and improvement of all electrical equipment throughout the Board’s system.
- Install, maintain and repair various electrical systems and equipment including but not limited to: motor control centers, SCADA equipment, switches and outlets, lighting protection equipment, batteries/battery equipment, colling fan wiring and controls, heating/air conditioning wiring and control, electric door wiring and controls, radio communication control equipment and etc.
- Design, build, install and maintain District Metering Area (DMA) site control panels, Solar DMA sites and YSI panels as per Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).
- Respond to trouble calls at remote locations/filter plants, in the event of an emergency.
- Install electrical facilities and wiring for transmitters, generators, instrumentation, radios, antennae, coaxial cable and other communication equipment.
- Install wiring, explosion-proof fittings and remote-control wiring in gas checkpoints, regulators, metering stations, etc.
- Install and maintain wiring of 110 to 4,160 volt pump motors, remote controls, wiring relays, electrical eyes, etc.
- Perform electric and electronic trouble-shooting; repair electronic equipment; trouble-shoot all types of instrumentation, and identity and solve problems.
- Install wiring and conduit in all BWWB facilities for all manner of electrical operation; install and maintain radio telemetry hardware, perform diagnostic test.
- Wire public address, alarm and buzzer systems, security systems, telephone systems; climb poles and towers, install radio equipment.
- Maintain instruments so as to provide accurate information about control for remote station pressure, flow and pump control, filter plant pressure, flow turbidity and chemical control of remote locations and tank level report equipment.
- Ability to create and read blueprints, sketches and wiring diagrams.
- Install new switch gear at remote pump stations.
- Install and maintain generator transfer switches at filter plants, pump stations and on main campus.
- Program troubleshoot, install and replace complex motor management relays (i.e. G.E. Multilin, FP6000, FP 5000, MP4000, MP3000, equipment and Infrared equipment. Soft Starts and (VFDs) Variable Frequency Drives.
- Project management & working with vendors for direct replacement.
- Supervises onsite inspection of electrical systems and various components installed by electrical contractors.
- Perform, record, produce detailed documentation from motor circuit analysis equipment.
- Read and draw blueprints, sketches and wiring diagrams.
- Respond to daily work order requests for internal departments, planed shutdowns and making sure the system is up and running so the customers have safe and plentiful water supply by making sure all electronic devices are monitoring and calibrated right. A problem call could include the ability to change out up to 4000 horse power motor or respond and suit up in high voltage ark flash suit to throw a switch.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance to find problems before they happen. Perform equipment inspections of switch gear to ensure settings are correct on the electronics.
- Meet with vendors and ordering parts and supplies to fix breakdowns and planed jobs.
- Help other electricians with larger projects when they need help completing jobs, and when they need assistance when it's more than a one or two-man job.
- Clean up trucks and pick up around job sites after large projects to make it safe for everyone.
