Overview
Gridco is seeking a highly skilled Master Electrician to lead data center and commercial lighting projects across the Southeast. This role requires multi-state electrical licenses and expertise in mission-critical facilities and advanced lighting systems.
Data Center & Lighting Projects
Multi-State Projects | AL, GA, TX, VA
Key Responsibilities- Data Center Expertise: Lead electrical installations for mission-critical data center facilities including power distribution, UPS systems, emergency power, grounding, and backup generators
- Lighting Systems: Design, install, and troubleshoot commercial lighting systems including LED retrofits, controls, dimming systems, and energy-efficient solutions
- Code Compliance: Ensure all work meets NEC requirements and state/local electrical codes across Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor journeyman electricians and apprentices, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols
- Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and clients to plan work, order materials, and meet project schedules
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning to verify all electrical systems function properly and safely
- Safety Leadership: Enforce OSHA and company safety standards, conduct job hazard analyses, and maintain a safe work environment
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues in data centers and commercial facilities
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation for all projects
- Master Electrician licenses in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Minimum 8 years of electrical experience with at least 3 years as a licensed Master Electrician
- Proven experience with data center electrical systems and mission-critical facilities
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial lighting systems
- Expert understanding of NEC and state/local electrical codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience supervising electrical crews and coordinating with other trades
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel to project sites across AL, GA, TX, and VA (up to 50% travel)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Experience with Tier III or Tier IV data center construction
- Certifications in lighting controls (CLCP, LC, or manufacturer certifications)
- Knowledge of BIM/VDC processes and coordination tools
- Experience with critical power systems and automatic transfer switches
- Building automation and control systems experience
- Arc flash training and certification
- NICET certification or equivalent
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on ladders/lifts
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments
- Manual dexterity for working with hand and power tools
