** Position
Description:
** The HVAC Start-Up Technician will play a critical role in supporting commercial construction projects by conducting pre-functional inspections, system start-ups, diagnostics, and warranty-period service on commercial HVAC equipment. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of chillers, boilers, air handlers, VRF systems, refrigeration components, and HVAC control sequences. The HVAC Start-Up Technician will review equipment submittals, interpret wiring diagrams, follow manufacturer installation and start-up procedures, and ensure systems are properly commissioned.
Responsibilities also include completing detailed documentation, troubleshooting issues, assisting installation teams, and working closely with commissioning agents to ensure all systems perform as designed. ** Requirements:
*** Minimum of four (4) years of experience in commercial HVAC equipment installation and start-up
* Strong understanding of HVAC system operations, refrigeration circuits, and equipment sequence of operations
* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, blueprints, submittals, and manufacturer manuals
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or iPad-based field reporting tools
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues
* VRF installation and start-up experience preferred
* Strong organizational and documentation skills
* Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures

* Key Responsibilities:
**** Leadership:
*** Support field operations by ensuring proper execution of start-up procedures and accurate documentation for all assigned HVAC systems.
** Technical Start-Up & Field Operations:
*** Perform pre-functional inspections and complete start-up checklists for chillers, boilers, air handlers, VRF units, split systems, and other commercial HVAC equipment
* Conduct diagnostics and make necessary repairs on refrigeration systems during start-up and warranty periods
* Interpret control schematics, high-voltage wiring diagrams, and manufacturer-provided installation documentation
* Assist installation teams in preparing field-installed devices and components prior to start-up
* Troubleshoot equipment performance, controls issues, and operational deficiencies
* Work closely with commissioning agents and complete all commissioning documentation
* Document inspection results, start-up data, identified issues, and corrective actions
** Reporting:
*** Provide accurate and timely start-up reports and equipment documentation to project managers, commissioning teams, and internal stakeholders.
** Compliance:
*** Follow and enforce all company safety procedures
* Ensure all start-up activities meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and commissioning standards
* Maintain organized, accurate documentation for all systems and field activities
