The HVAC Technician II installs, operates and maintains the organization’s heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The HVAC Technician II is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. This position assists associates within and outside of their trade.

• Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
• Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems, and Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) operation.
• Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g., heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
• Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action, and complying with building and safety regulations.
• Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment to ensure availability in safe operating condition.
• May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems.

• Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
• Assists with special projects as assigned.

Required:

• EPA Certification (level II preferred) – required.

And One Or More Of The Following:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of trade school.
• 3 years’ relevant experience.
• Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
