Description

Our Diesel Mechanics are responsible for maintaining the engine and equipment on our waste collection trucks, and providing courteous service to our truck drivers who operate these trucks daily. Our mechanics engage with our drivers and impact their community in a positive way.

Salary

$30.00-$50.00 per hour based on experience.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs preventive maintenance, problem diagnostics, and repairs on Company vehicles and equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnoses and subsequently makes repairs
  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules
  • Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment
  • Attends safety meetings and classes
  • Maintains tools and equipment
  • Maintains a safe and tidy shop
  • Welds and fabricates parts as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS / KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles
  • Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in welding
  • Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles
