Maintenance Technician – The Scion Group
Join us as a Maintenance Technician to support our student living facilities. We are hiring immediately.
About the RoleThe Facilities Technician II will respond to maintenance and repair service requests, conduct preventive maintenance tasks, prepare apartments for turnovers, and ensure timely procurement of supplies. This role demands superior problem‑solving, technical abilities, and unwavering follow‑through in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain the physical condition of the property per The Scion Group’s Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, and industry standards.
- Perform physically demanding maintenance tasks to minimize liability.
- Operate system monitoring, diagnostics, and preventive testing for major building systems and life‑safety systems such as fire pumps, alarms, sprinkler systems, back‑flow prev enters, smoke detectors, CO2 sensors, emergency lighting, and means of egress.
- Assist in creating emergency and disaster preparedness plans.
- Manage key‑management protocols and security; unlock apartment doors and escort vendors as needed.
- Coordinate delivery and work schedules with vendors and contractors as approved by the Facilities Manager.
- Diagnose and perform routine maintenance/repair in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all service requests are completed and documented.
- FLSA Status:

- High school/GED or trade school diploma with minimum 3‑5 years of full‑time general maintenance experience, or equivalent.
- HVAC certification/EPA 608 certification (Core, Type I, II & III).
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or intent to obtain within six months.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of key‑management and security systems.
- Safety‑conscious attitude, punctuality, dependability, and ability to work under aggressive deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Entrata, CMMS, Building Automation).
- Willingness to travel when required.
- Ability to stand 8+ hours per day and lift up to 100 lbs.
- Job location:
assigned property; may require periodic travel. - On‑call responsibility except during approved PTO periods.
