Calling all passionate, food-focused culinary experts! This role offers an exhilarating opportunity to lead our Catering kitchen and take the catering experience to new heights.
We are seeking an engaged and innovative Executive Chef 2 for the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). UAB is an urban college campus that cares about its students, faculty, and community, and is the first Health Promoting University in the United States. Our campus dining program includes multiple retail outlets, high‑end catering, and residential dining.
Reporting to the Campus Executive Chef, the Executive Chef 2 will be involved in all culinary aspects of the catering operation, managing menu planning, ordering, inventory, recipe adherence, and food safety. The role requires balancing hands‑on cooking with mentoring front‑line team members, implementing sustainability practices, and creating customized menus for clients.
What You'll Do- Purchase, maintain menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis, and food production forecasting.
- Ensure Sodexo culinary standards, recipe compliance, and food quality are implemented.
- Develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standard compliance.
- Maintain working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems.

- Minimum education:
Associate's Degree or equivalent experience. - Minimum management experience: 2 years.
- Minimum functional experience: 2 years in food or culinary services (restaurants, fast food, vending, catering, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.).
