Position: Staff Nurse MedSurg 10 Harbert Ortho EMU Neuro

Work Schedule

Full‑time Evening Night Shift, 6:45 pm – 7:15 am. Three 12‑hour shifts per week with variable weekends.

Summary

The staff nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Patient care includes assessment, interventions, and reassessments of the patient. The nurse is also responsible for planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients and caregivers.

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience

Licensing, Certifications, & Registries
  • Current RN license in the State of Alabama.
  • Current BLS certification.
Equivalent Credentials
  • Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications:
    Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State, Registered Nurse Non‑AL NLC Multi State.
  • Basic Life Support.
Equivalent Education
  • Associate of Science in Nursing.
Unit Overview

10 Harbert is a 24‑bed medical‑surgical unit focusing on Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation services. Eight beds are designated for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), an 8‑bed mini‑unit located on 10H. The EMU is designated Level 4 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). The unit provides patient/family‑focused, quality‑driven nursing services for pediatric patients ranging from neonates to adolescents. Staff work as a team to provide quality patient care and excellent customer service.

The EMU is staffed by Epileptologists, Nurse Practitioners, and Technicians highly trained in the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy through GRID and stereoelectroencephalography placement and surgery.

Schedule

6:45 pm – 7:15 am;
Three 12‑hour shifts per week with variable weekends (evening-night shift).
