Serving the Homewood community, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is a 595-bed acute-care hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama. The facility offers a full complement of services, including emergency care, cardiovascular care, bariatrics, orthopedics and rehabilitation, and surgical services. It also is one of the largest providers of psychiatric care in the state. The hospital has earned Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission, and its bariatric program has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
The Women’s Medical Center provides comprehensive women’s services through all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity care, and labor and delivery services. At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital the Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for leading the shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure delivery of high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM); the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for the unit’s clinical operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment.
Our ortho/spine unit is a 30 bed unit with a 6:1 nurse to patient ratio.

Schedule: 3x12 on Days 6:45 AM- 7:15 PM

- Participates in shared leadership structure.
- Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and off going shifts, based on patient acuity and skill set of team members to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Coordinates patient flow by working directly with the Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
- Monitors overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitors status of seriously ill patients.
